Frequently Asked Questions
It is normal to have questions about therapy, especially if this is your first time coming to a session. This is a list of common questions I have been asked by people coming to see me for the first time. Feel free to email or call me with any additional questions you may have at this time!
01
I'm really nervous about coming to therapy.

I realize this is not a question, but I want you to know that nearly every person I have talked to has said these words "I'm really nervous..." A couple things to know: (1) if you are not nervous, that's just fine; (2) if you are nervous, that is okay! Nerves are feelings and as a therapist I love feelings. Allow yourself to be nervous and we can talk about it when you come in for your first session.
02
When, how often, and how long are sessions?

We will schedule sessions together based on what fits best with both of our schedules. I work days and evenings various days of the week. Some people meet once a week, some twice a week, others every other week. It all depends on what you want. Sessions last about 50 minutes, usually one hour.
03
How much does therapy cost? Do you take insurance?

Therapy costs $100 per session (50 minutes). Let me know if you want to discuss a payment plan. I accept cash, check, visa, or mastercard. I currently do not accept any forms of insurance. I will provide you with codes to submit a claim to your insurance company should you be interested in reimbursement. I cannot guarantee your insurance company will reimburse you.
04
Do you prescribe medication?

As a therapist, I do not prescribe medication. Although, I have a working understanding of medication and feel comfortable walking alongside you and your physician and/or psychiatrist to help make decisions concerning medication if we think it would be beneficial to your treatment.
05
What should I expect when I come to therapy?

During our first few sessions we are going to talk about your life currently and make some goals for our time together. We will identify your strengths and growth areas. We will also make decisions about who we want to include in therapy.
